ECG Test – The Cardiac Test

Electrocardiogram test, commonly known as ecg test is a cardiac test that helps to detect possible heart abnormalities. It is done by testing the electrical activity of the human heart. Usually, the heart’s electrical activity is represented by a graph reproduced by software or tool known as ECG simulator.

Nowadays, there are many forms of simulators with a different number of leads. Usually, 10 to 12 leads are used and cables. Compatibility of cables and leads  are always checked using the diagnostic equipment.

ECG tests are very common as they help to represent various carECG tests 45diac abnormalities graphically. ECG machines are readily available in most medical facilities, and the tests can easily be carried out risk-free and inexpensive. In fact, the test is usually done as part of the regular physical exam and part of cardiac tests. It can also be performed to evaluate symptoms of fainting, palpitations, chest pain, fainting, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

The main procedure of ECG test is that electrodes are attached to legs, chest, and arms. These areas are important in detecting electrical impulses that are generated by the patient’s heart. The impulses are transmitted to the heart. It is from these impulses that you can check abnormalities.

The wavy lines on paper readings or machine are actually how your heart beats. This is what doctors read and interpret the abnormalities. Electrocardiogram tracing can be used to determine heart rate, rhythm, and conduction ECG tests 46abnormalities if they exist. It is possible to check whether you suffered a recent heart attack or heart disease or heart muscles have thickened. It is also possible to predict an evolving heart attack. Moreover, serious effects on the heart that are caused by inflammation of the heart or lung conditions can be known.

Limitations
There are limitations to ECG tests. This is because the tests reveal the rhythm and rate of your heart during a particular time. For instance, ECG results can indicate normal even for patients with undiagnosed heart problems such as coronary artery disease. Some of the abnormalities that appear on this machine turn out to have no significance in medical after careful evaluation is carried out.

You should note that ECG has evolved, and the new machines on the market deliver latest advancements in technology. The first ECG was invented in 1942 and continues to be a standard of what is currently used in medical facilities across the world.
